What Students are Saying...

Fran Bisselle, Cohort 2002
"When I applied to the University of Vermont, as a working mother of two from Westport, New York, I hoped my experience would be challenging and enriching. It certainly surpassed all my expectations. Every semester was a new experience that pushed me both personally and professionally to grapple with complex ideas, embrace contradictions, and seek solutions. I leave with new confidence and a solid foundation of knowledge that will be invaluable to meeting the challenges of leadership that lay ahead. My doctoral experience at UVM has been one of the most important experiences of my life, and I leave the program confident that I can and will make a difference in the lives of others."

Megan Powers, Cohort 2003

"Overall, the Ed.D. program continues to be a great experience for me.  As a result of this experience, I now have a broader educational base and list of resources, new information and research to influence the work that I do, and a great new group of professional contacts and friends.

I found my cohort to be comprised of a great mix of people who each have unique experiences and different concentrations ... it doesn't take long before you begin to see the connections between public education, higher education, and human services. We had a great group of individuals in our cohort who all liked each other personally and respected each other professionally.  We could agree, disagree, challenge, and call each other out respectfully and honestly.  It was truly a learning experience.

Faculty are very helpful and approachable in this program.  In addition, many take the time to incorporate the struggles, stresses, etc. of adult learners with families, full time professions, apprehensions about going back to school, etc. into the class exercises and discussions.  Mostly, each individual was encouraged to get out of this program as much or as little as they want(ed)."

David Bergh, Cohort 2003

"The cohort model resulted in a very effective and supportive learning environment and also provided a great professional network"
