Clare Byrne is a choreographer, dancer, and writer who studies junctures of ritual and visceral spirituality through dance. Her company Clare Byrne Dance performed in many venues in New York City during its ten years here, including Dance Theater Workshop, Joyce SoHo, Danspace Project, and Dixon Place. She is a recipient of grants and residencies through The Joyce Theater Foundation, Dixon Place, The Yard on Martha's Vineyard, The Dragon's Egg, The Silo Residency, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, and the Bogliasco Foundation in Liguria, Italy, among others. She was a founding member of Nicholas Leichter Dance, and wrote dance reviews for the online publication offoffoff.com. Byrne also taught at Muhlenberg College, Long Island University, and Manhattanville College.
