This course will explore the various historical, political, economic, religious, and artistic components that have affected the construction of a European identity from the time of the ancient Greeks to today's European Union In addition to serving as an introduction to the historical legacy and continued importance of a continent in constant flux, it offers students the opportunity to develop a more multifaceted, interdisciplinary understanding of this complex and vital region than is possible via study in one discipline alone. As such, it is especially suitable for students considering majors or minors in European Studies.
