Meeting called to order by Frank Proschan at 6:25

Agenda Approval

Approval of the Agenda called for by Bill Stern and Barb West

MINUTES AND TREASURER’S REPORT

Because Todd White was unable to attend, approval of the last meetings were skipped and the report on the treasury as well.

Frank assured everyone that there was a surplus in the treasury partially due to unused funds for a newsletter.

PANELS

David Valentine reported that there were seven panels at the AAA 2001 meetings sponsored by SOLGA.

Theme for 2002 will be the “Futures of the Field.” Deadline for submissions beginning of March. AAA calling for innovative poster sessions and panel discussions that are connected with other sessions.

Some sessions ideas discussed

  • Christine Pettit: Sodomy Laws
  • Michael Hernandez: Nudity
  • Carol Kelly: Immigration Issues.

Frank added David and committee and panels did a good job.

NEWS EDITOR REPORT

Barb West

Sorry missed the Newsletter, due to failure of Anthro News to use already prepared column while Barb was on leave. Send ideas to bwest@uop.edu. Barb called for TIPS in the Anthro News and technology section to replace cartoons.

Anthropology News will be on-line as of December.
