Spinal cord features

Cervical enlargement
C4-T1; supplies the upper limb
Lumbar enlargement
Gives rise to spinal nerves L2-S3; supplies the lower limb
Located T9-L1
Conus medullaris
End of spinal cord between L1 and L2
Cauda equina (horse's tail)
Ventral and dorsal roots and filum terminale in lower vertebral canal S4-C0
Filum terminale internum
Delicate filament continuous with pia mater, extends from conus medullaris to S2, and is completely enclosed in the dural sac (the sac ends at S2, which is why the filum terminale internum ends there too)
Filum terminal externum
Continuation of the filum terminale internum extending from S2 and ending by attaching to the coccyx.
