The axillary artery is found deep to the pectoralis minor. It has three segments and gives off a number of branches:

1 Superior thoracic
  • Intercostal spaces 1 and 2
2 Thoraco-acromial
  • Deltoid
  • Acromion
  • Clavicle
  • Pectoralis
Lateral thoracic
  • Chest wall
3 Posterior circumflex humeral
  • Deltoid
  • Shoulder joint
Anterior circumflex humeral
  • Anterior aspect of shoulder joint
Subscapular
  • Latissimus dorsi (via the thoracodorsal)
  • Scapular anastomosis (via the circumflex scapular)
