Dewey House for Civic Engagement
Community Service Scholars Program
The Dewey House for Civic Engagement partners with the UVM Community Service Scholars Program (CSSP) to implement a coordinated, four-year service-learning experience leading to designation as a “Community Service Scholar” upon graduation. Incoming first time, first year students can apply for the $2,500 Community Service Scholarship through Student Financial Services. Applications are available by the end of November and are due in February (follow link below for this year's exact dates). The scholarship can be renewed annually up to three times provided that the student meets the annual requirements of the program. The 6-10 students selected each year live in the Dewey House, although the majority of Dewey House members are not CSSP students.
Current students who are in their first year at the Dewey House can also apply for the Community Service Scholarship. For returning Dewey House students, the scholarship can be renewed annually up to two times provided that the student meets the annual requirements of the program.
