Petra Munro is an Associate Professor of Education and Women’s and Gender Studies at Louisiana State University. Her research interests focus on the narrative analysis of curriculum history, women’s life histories and the discourses of qualitative methodology. She is actively involved in working with secondary social studies educators to promote the use of oral history in the teaching of social studies. As Director of the McKinley High School Oral History project she works with inner-city youth to document community history. She is author of Subject to Fiction: Women Teachers’ Life History Narratives and the Cultural Politics of Resistance and coauthor of Pedagogies of Resistance: Women Educators as Social Activists, 1880-1960. She is currently completing her book, Engendering Curriculum History.
