Richard Gibboney is on the Editorial Board of Education and Culture: The Journal of the John Dewey Society. He was Vermont’s Commissioner of Education from 1965-1967, and is currently on sabbatical from his position as Professor of Education at the University of Pennsylvania where he teaches courses in the history of the Progressive Era and Deweyan theory. Primary areas of interest include history of school reform and current issues in reform.
He is the author of What Every great Teacher Knows: Practical Principle for Effective Teaching and The Stone Trumpet: A Story of Practical School Reform 1960-1990.
