A duo recital by two spectacular young musicians in their prime. Kim Kashkashian is that rare occurrence: a violist with a major solo career. A regular guest artist to the festivals in Marlboro, Lockenhaus, and Salzburg, she is a a prolific recording artist and is currently on the faculty of the New England Conservatory. She will be joined by pianist Lydia Artymiw who has been hailed in the New York Times as "a pianist with a beautiful touch, a creative imagination, and a feeling for color and texture far in advance of that cultivated by most of the young virtuosos we hear." They will perform together and separately: Beethoven: Variations on a theme by Mozart; Schumann: Fantasiestücke; Shostokovich: Sonata and Kurtag: selections from Jelek and Signs, Games, and Messages.
