Thomas Gallant, oboe and Pedja Muzijevic, piano

Another chance for the Lane Series to highlight a seldom-heard instrument in a recital setting (see Kim Kashkashian November 16). First Prize winner of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition, Thomas Gallant is one of the world's few virtuoso solo and chamber music performers on the oboe. His astonishing technique and breath control have often been compared to that of the great violinists and singers. Mr. Gallant has been praised by the New Yorker magazine as "a player who unites technical mastery with intentness, charm and wit." The young Bosnian (now New Yorker) Pedja Muzijevic has always been one of our favorite pianists since we first presented him on the series eight years ago. Mikhail Baryshnikov's accompanist, he is a superb musician in his own right.
