A Lummer-Brodhun cube and absorption
screens are mounted in the front of the box. One diagonal of
the cube is a contrast pattern that is observed using the telescope. A
removeable partition separates the two spaces at the back of the box. The
sight box is rotated about a horizontal axis so that light from the
two lamps can be viewed on either side of the cube.(1)
