Scanning Station
- Can we maybe get a dock or something so that the scanner machine can be interchangeable?
- It also was proposed that it should use XP as opposed to a livecd ...
- The live CD is currently only temp... without needing to reinstall XP.
- However... I still think it's a better alternative for a standalone workstation
- We don't need a dock, we need scanning software on all of the machines in the room [sjc]
- I agree with STEVE! We do need the scanning software on all machines. (hbp)

Should we lose the smartboard?
- No, How about a designated a laptop as having the software for it so it can be readily used if we want to.
- The software has been installed (on some), has anyone used it on the D800s?
- No, How about a designated a laptop as having the software for it so it can be readily used if we want to.
- YES. [sjc]
- Architecturally, the smartboard is another anchor to the "stage" model of teaching. Tying it to a particular computer that is tied to a particular spot in the room is about as confining as that model can be. [sjc]
- Specifically, in this case, the smartboard is too high for most faculty to teach, has continual alignment problems, and is pretty much relegated to being a very expensive "dumbboard." [sjc]
- When the so called experts use technology badly, they discourage faculty from going of and inventing something better. [sjc]
- YES. [sjc]

File Server
- Idea: There is a file server in the corner of the room (an old dell laptop). Could all the other laptops mount a share drive read-only when booting. It would be a good way to distribute files for group events.
- I thought ab out creating a read only space, writeable by an admin login, but got a luke-warm response at best.
- Mounting directions for ctluser:ctluser which are read/write have readily been given out
