* Captions: Open or Closed: Open captions are text that appear on the screen, usually on a contrasting color bar. They are always visible. Closed captions also appear on screen but they can be turned on and off. Both kinds of captions can contain simple information (a name, a title, a few words) or can contain a narration of the audio track that accompanies the video (generally used for closed captioning).

** Recording PowerPoint or Keynote presentations: like everything else that happens on your screen, you can record a PowerPoint presentation. However, if your presentation has embedded sound you will need a screencasting program that can record “System Sound.” In addition, Camtasia Studio for Windows includes an Add-In that will add a menu bar to your Windows PowerPoint so that you can record directly to Camtasia from within PowerPoint.

*** Embedded Quizzes: Camtasia Studio for Windows includes the ability to pause the screencast, display a simple quiz (multiple choice, True/False, Short Answer), then collect the results of the quiz. These results can be sent to you by email. You can also save the screencast with the quiz as a special SCORM-formatted file and add it to your Blackboard course. Quiz results will then be automatically added to the Grade Center.

**** Audio: internal mic capture will record your voice or other sounds happening in the room around you. System capture will record the sounds coming from your computer, for example, the sound from a narrated PowerPoint or from a song played through iTunes.
