Yes indeed! Every Week!

What’s CS 95/195 all about?
Technical Talks in Computing is a once-a-week, one credit
course that covers a wide range of Computing topics. The course
welcomes both CS and non-CS students of all levels of experience. The
course aims to provide a forum for students to gain and share
knowledge about tech topics as well as interact with like-minded smart
folks from the UVM community.

What kinds of topics are covered?
Anything you want! In addition to scheduled talks and guest
speakers, a significant part of the course is talks given by YOU. In
addition to hearing talks, everyone in the class will also give one
20-minute talk on a computing/tech topic of their choosing. This can
and usually is a group-project, and is a great chance to explore a new
topic, or share about something you’re an expert in with your peers.
Past topics have included: Bioinformatics, Nanotechnology,
Synthesizers and Digital Sound, Malicious Computing, Adobe Air, Mobile
Computing, Military Exoskeletons and Eigen Microphones, just to name a
few!
In Spring 2011, scheduled talks and guest speakers covered
ubiquitous personalized information fusion, the Internet/the cloud,
robotics, geo-spatial service assessment, iCompute@UVM, hacker
history, the colony, Jazz software, the Vermont travel information
services, mobile computing, and GNI news filtering and summarization.
