Frequently Asked Questions
Most Asked Questions:
- Are GRE scores required? Yes, and they must be taken within
the past 5 years.
- What is the average GRE score for accepted applicants? That
information has not been compiled. Mid level GRE scores alone would not exclude
you from the applicant pool or from acceptance into the program. We take all
application materials into consideration as a package. Generally, accepted
students have a strong statement of purpose, good letters of reference from
professionals who can speak to their level of maturity and competence, GPA
from all undergraduate or graduate study that shows you could be successful
in graduate school, and your successful participation with faculty, staff,
students and other applicants at the invited group interview. If you do not
test well and/or are concerned that your GRE scores do not accurately reflect
your ability, please make a note of that in your statement of purpose. There
are fellowship opportunities that are merit based and those require very high
GPA and GRE scores.
- What does the on-campus interview entail? Interviews are
by invitation only. Students are invited to a group interview only after their
applications have been reviewed. We have two interview dates and interview
applicants in a group setting with one or more faculty members, staff and
current graduate students. During that process we get to know a bit about
each other, talk about the program and expectations, applicants are asked
a spontaneous question (same question for everyone) and they have a few minutes
to think about it before responding to the group. At the end of the interview,
faculty and staff leave and we invite current students in to talk with you
about any questions you might want to ask from a student's perspective. The
interviews last from 8 am to Noon.
- Are tours available? Yes, you may request a tour before
or after the interview. If you are interested in an tour, please contact Luke Lewis (802-656-0746) a week or two in advance so he can set
that up.
- Is it possible to meet with other students in the program?
Yes, again please contact Luke Lewis to set that up.
- My I visit a class while I'm in town? Sure. Contact either
Luke Lewis (802-656-0746)
or the individual
instructors for the course you'd like to attend.
