COUNSELING PROGRAM WELCOME

The University of Vermont Graduate Counseling Program is designed to prepare students with the professional knowledge and skills they need to act as facilitators of change and growth for individuals, groups, and organizations. Counseling Program graduates receive a Master of Science degree and are prepared to work as professional counselors in a wide variety of settings.

Students who complete the School Counseling track, a 51 credit-hour program, are eligible to be licensed to practice as school counselors in the State of Vermont.

The Mental Health Counseling track, a 60 credit-hour program, prepares graduates for licensure as mental health counselors, with additional post-degree requirements.

The Counseling Program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), the national accrediting body for counselor education programs. Our College is also accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
