On a excellent Fall New England day, UVM and Middlebury competed in a growing fall tradition, a duel match to start the racing season.
Over the 5,300m Lamoille River Course, UVM and Middlebury went boat for boat in the Mens and Womens Varsity 8, 4, and Frosh 8. The day wrapped up with two flights of small boat rowing, giving our varsity men and women a chance to row singles, doubles, and pairs.
The UVM men finished the day undefeated, with wins in the Varsity 8, Varsity 4, and Men’s Frosh 8. The UVM women were successful in the Varsity 4, and Frosh 8, with Middlebury’s Women’s Varsity 8 earning the lone Midd win of the day.
UVM will regain ownership of the Vermont Cup, until the spring season when the two teams will fight once more to be the fastest team in Vermont.
Thank you to all those who came to cheer us on, and we look forward to see you again at the Quinsigamond Snake, and Head of the Charles.
