Transfer applications will be reviewed at the end of the spring semester only. Current UVM students apply by completing the online Athletic Training Education Program Intrauniversity transfer application. Current UVM students wishing to transfer into the ATEP will simultaneously complete an application for the clinical portion of the program. External applicants transferring in from a CAATE accredited ATEP may qualify for Advanced Placement. Clinical portion and advanced placement information/applications are available from the Director of Athletic Training Education, Alan Maynard. External applicants may either download or request an undergraduate application from the Office of Admissions.
ALL transfer applicants must also fill out and return to the CNHS Office of Students Services an Essential Functions form for athletic training majors. The purpose of this document is to assure that all students entering the programs in this College know and understand the clinical and academic requirements. Nursing and Health Sciences students must be able to meet these standards either with or without reasonable accommodations.
Click here for the CNHS Undergraduate Student Handbook, which contains the Essential Functions for each major. Students are required to review the handbook and sign the last page.
In addition to the fulfilling the admission requirements for all undergraduate degree students (see UVM Undergraduate Admissions Criteria for details), students must apply to the clinical portion of the athletic training education program at the end of their first year.
Visit the Athletic Training Education Program website for admission requirements.
Selectivity and transfers into program: The clinical portion of the program is selective and space limited. A competitive review of applicants takes place at the end of each academic year by the Athletic Training Education Committee. The admission requirements listed on the ATEP website are only minimum requirements and attaining them does not guarantee admission into the clinical portion of the ATEP.
Additional fees: There are costs associated with being enrolled in the UVM ATEP. These include but are not limited to: lab fees, personal liability insurance, immunization maintenance, apparel to adhere to dress code(s), and travel to and from off-campus clinical assignments and internships. We also provide a detailed breakdown of these costs (pdf).
