Dr. Jennifer Laurent is a practicing family nurse practitioner in a Vermont rural family practice working with individuals and families since 1997. She continues her primary care practice at GoodHealth in South Burlington and works with graduate nurse practitioner students at the UVM faculty practice, Appletree Bay Primary Care, in Burlington.

Dr. Laurent joined the Department of Nursing full time in the fall of 2011 after teaching clinical graduate course work at the University of Vermont part-time since 2003. She received her B.S from the University of Connecticut-Storrs in 1991, a M.S from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 1997, and a Ph.D. from Duquesne University in 2010. Dr. Laurent’s research focuses largely on how dietary sugars affect brain reward circuits, gut metabolism, and eating behaviors such as addictive-like eating in obese adolescents. In addition, Dr. Laurent serves on the Vermont State Board of Nursing and APRN Sub-Committee for the Vermont Board of Nursing.
