Dr. O’Meara is a women’s health nurse practitioner at Planned Parenthood of Northern New England and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Dr. O’Meara completed her MS at Boston College in 2006 and her DrNP at Drexel University in March of 2014. Her dissertation was entitled Simulation Learning Modalities among Nurse Practitioner Students using Herpes as a Case Exemplar. She has a strong interest is reproductive health care and creative learning modalities that encourage student engagement. She is currently studying for her Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner certification with UVM. She teaches in the undergraduate, graduate, and RN to BSN programs.

  • Provided well-woman and surgical and medical gynecologic oncology care consistent with the role of a mid-level provider.

Clinician, Planned Parenthood of Northeast Pennsylvania, Hazleton, PA. January 2007 - June 2008.

  • Worked independently as the only center clinician diagnosing and treating gynecological issues, performing annual and problem visits, prescribing necessary treatments and medications, and referring as indicated.

Visiting Nurse, Family Service of Greater Boston, Boston, MA. August 2005 - March 2006.

  • Visited women during the prenatal and postpartum periods to assist with teaching, skills, life management and health issues.
