Denise Alosa serves as part-time faculty in the Athletic Training Education Program. She graduated in 1985 from the University of Vermont where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in education and the Athletic Training Education Program. Upon graduation, she accepted a position as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Me. Several years later, she returned to Burlington, Vt. for an opportunity to help open a new outpatient sports medicine clinic. During her employment at the clinic, she began an outreach program to local high schools and community based athletic healthcare programs. Alosa then pursued at graduate degree in exercise science from the University of New Hampshire. She returned to Burlington and began teaching at her alma mater in the Athletic Training Education Program. In 1994 she became the curriculum director of that program. After four years in that position, she returned to the secondary school setting as the first full-time athletic trainer in that position in the state of Vermont. She and her high school continue to lead the way for secondary school athletic training in the state.

Denise has served terms as both Secretary and Treasurer for the Vermont Association of Athletic Trainers, and was an active member in pursuit of state licensure. She is currently the District 1 Women in Athletic Training Committee representative, and the chair of the programming subcommittee for that organization. She serves as the Medical Coordinator for the Vermont City Marathon, New England’s second biggest marathon. She continues as a lecturer at the University of Vermont, and is a co-investigator on a large research project sponsored by the National Institute of Health studying "Injury Risk Factors of the Lower Extremity" in collegiate and high school athletes. She has co-authored numerous articles on that subject. She has presented at numerous conferences on local, regional and national levels.

Denise resides in South Burlington, Vermont, and enjoys photography, golf, home improvement projects, and spending time with her family.
