December Graduates' Reception
Wednesday, December 16, 2015
Grand Maple Ballroom, Dudley H. Davis Center
The University will host a reception for October and December graduates to recognize their accomplishments and celebrate informally with members of the University community. The reception for October and December graduates will be held on December 16, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Grand Maple Ballroom at the Dudley H. Davis Center.
Please note this reception is not a ceremony. President Sullivan will be addressing graduates as a whole and graduates will not be individually recognized. We would also like to encourage graduates and their guests to join us for the 2016 May Commencement Ceremony where graduates will be individually recognized.
Graduates should check their UVM email for the invitation to the December Graduates' Reception and link to RSVP in early November.
Further information will be posted as it becomes available.

After discussions with the various groups, including the Faculty Senate leadership, the Student Government Association, and the Graduate Student Senate, the decision was made to discontinue the December Commencement Ceremony after December 2013. The May Commencement exercises, which includes the University Commencement Main Ceremony, individual College and School ceremonies where diplomas are distributed, the Graduate College Commencement Ceremony, the College of Medicine Commencement Ceremony, and the Honors College Scholars Recognition Ceremony will be the annual occasion when the University celebrates the accomplishments of its students by conferring degrees.
The changes in 2014 to the University’s Commencement Walk Policy make it more flexible for undergraduate students who are within six credit hours of completing their degree requirements to participate in May Commencement exercises. Under the policy, a number of the students who have historically participated in the December ceremony would now be eligible to participate in May Commencement exercises. Students who completed their degree requirements in October or December are invited to return to campus in May for Commencement Weekend and will be eligible to participate in the ceremonies with May graduates.
Please note: diplomas for October graduates will be mailed out to graduates in late October and diplomas for December graduates will be mailed to graduates in late January.
