Academic Ceremonies - Commencement

Parking

The Commencement Parking Map and Quick Reference Guide will be distributed to students when they pick up their caps and gowns. Brochures will also be distributed to campus shuttle buses and area hotels/motels commencement weekend. If you do not receive a brochure and would like one, contact the University Communications Office, (802) 656-2005 or e-mail the office at newserv@zoo.uvm.edu.

Parking assignments for each college or school are designated below. Shuttle buses will bring guests to and from all commencement events (for schedule and bus stop locations, please refer to Commencement Parking Map and Quick Reference Guide).

Please respect our neighbors. Parking on area residential streets is by city-issued permit only. Violators will be subject to City of Burlington policy of ticketing and towing vehicles parked in these areas.

Agriculture and Life Sciences

Gutterson Garage and Lot (Lot A)

Arts and Sciences Jeffords Hall and Given Lots (Lot B and Lot C)
Business Administration Downtown Burlington (free public parking is available on Sundays)
Education and Social Services Gutterson Garage and Lot (Lot A)
Engineering and Mathematical Sciences Downtown Burlington (free public parking is available on Sundays)
Environment and Natural Resources University of Vermont Conference Center at the Sheraton
(Lot D)
Medicine Given Lot (Lot C)
Nursing and Health Sciences University Health Center (UHC) (Lot E)
Graduate College Saturday: Gutterson Garage and Lot (Lot A) Sunday: please park in Lot designated for your school or college.
Honors College Saturday: Given Lot (Lot C) Sunday: please park in the Lot designated for your school or college.
Handicap Parking Available at the College Street Street Lot, Votey Lot and the Gutterson Garage and Lot.

Street Closings

Friday, May 18, 7:00 p.m. through Sunday, May 20, 8:00 p.m., University Place will be closed from Colchester Avenue to Main Street and South Prospect Street will be closed from College Street to University Health Center entrance. In addition, on Saturday, May 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday, May 20 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., South Prospect Street will be closed form Colchester Avenue to Main Street and College Street will be closed from South Prospect Street to South Williams Street.

Shuttle Bus Service

Saturday, May 19, 2011, 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Shuttle bus service will be available between the Given Lot (Lot C), Ira Allen Chapel, and Davis Center Oval for the Honors College Recognition Ceremony and reception. Please use the bus stop at the corner of the Given Lot nearest the Davis Center.

Sunday, May 20, 2011, 7:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Shuttle busses will run every 10 minutes from designated bus stops at Patrick Gym, Royall Tyler Theatre, Jeffords Hall Lot (Lot B), Davis Center Oval and the Conference Center at the Sheraton (Lot D). If there is a change of venue due to severe weather, the shuttle route will include the UHC lot (Lot E). A dedicated shuttle will run between the Flynn Theatre, Hilton Hotel, and Allen House (or Patrick Gym, rain venue).
