Commencement 2009

Parking

Commencement parking maps will be distributed to students when they pick up their caps and gowns. Maps will also be distributed to campus shuttle buses and area hotels/motels commencement weekend. If you do not receive a map and would like one, contact the University Communications Office, (802) 656-2005 or e-mail the office at newserv@zoo.uvm.edu.

The Commencement Parking Map and Quick Reference Guide is available in PDF format which requires you to have Adobe Acrobat Reader software on your computer.

Parking areas for each college or school are designated below. Shuttle buses will bring guests to and from all commencement events (for schedule and bus stop locations, please refer to Commencement Parking Map and Quick Reference Guide.

Please respect our neighbors. Parking on area residential streets is by city-issued permit only. Violators will be subject to City of Burlington policy of ticketing and towing vehicles parked in these areas.

Agriculture and Life Sciences

Lot A (Gutterson Lot and Garage)

Arts and Sciences Lot B and Lot C (Ag/Engineering and Given Lots)
Business Administration Downtown Burlington (free public parking is available on Sundays)
Education and Social Services Lot A (Gutterson Lot and Garage)
Engineering and Mathematical Sciences Lot D (University of Vermont Conference Center at the Sheraton)
Environment and Natural Resources Lot D (University of Vermont Conference Center at the Sheraton)
Graduate College Saturday: Lot E. (UHC/University Health Center Lot. Enter from South Williams Street (if the ceremony is moved indoors due to severe weather, parking will be in Lot A. Sunday: please park in Lot(s) designated for your school or college.
Handicap Parking Handicap Parking will be available at the College Street Lot and the Gutterson Lot and Garage.
Honors College Saturday: Lot C (Given/Water Tower Lot). Shuttles will run between Ira Allen and the Davis from 2:30 to 5:00 pm. Handicap parking will be provided behind Ira Allen for the ceremony and at the Davis Oval for the reception. Sunday: please park in the Lot(s) designated for your school or college.
Medicine Lot C (Given/Water Tower Lot)
Nursing and Health Sciences Lot E (University Health Center (UHC) Lot)

Street Closings

Friday, May 15, 7:00 p.m. through Sunday, May 17, 8:00 p.m., University Place will be closed from Colchester Avenue to Main Street and South Prospect Street will be closed from College Street to University Health Center entrance. In addition, on Saturday, May 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday, May 17 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., South Prospect Street will be closed form Colchester Avenue to Main Street and College Street will be closed from South Prospect Street to South Williams Street.

Shuttle Bus Service

Saturday, May 16, 2009 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Shuttle bus service will be available between the Given Lot and and Ira Allen Chapel for the Honors College Ceremony. Please use the bus stop at the corner of the Given Lot nearest the Davis Center.

Sunday, May 17, 2009
7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Shuttle busses will run every 10 minutes from designated busstops at Patrick Gym, Royall Tyler Theatre, Given Lot (Lotc), Ag/Engineering Lot (Lot B), and the Conference Center at the Shertaon (Lot D). If there is a change of venue due to severe weather, the shuttle route will include the UHC lot (Lot E0. A dedicated shuttle will run between the Flynn Theatre, Hilton Hotel, and Allen House or Patrick Gym (rain venue). (see map).

Deaf and Disability Accommodation Requests

Participants or guests with disabilities and those who are Visually Impaired, and Deaf or hard of hearing may make arrangements for accommodations for parking, seating, amplification, captioning, interpretation, large print or Braille by contacting the office of Conference and Event Services at (802) 656-5665 (voice) or by email at conferences@uvm.edu. In order to provide you with the best possible service, please make your arrangements as far in advance of Commencement as possible.
