Due to an unfavorable weather forecast for Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18, the Graduate College Hooding Ceremony, main Commencement Ceremony, and College of Arts and Sciences Ceremony have been moved indoors to the Athletic Campus.

Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony

Induction of members in course, undergraduate and graduates, into the Alpha
Chapter of Vermont, Phi Beta Kappa. Initiates will sign the chapter's register

Join the Senior Class of 2008 for this annual tradition of robing of Ira Allen
and traditional planting of perennial flowers. Sponsored by the TOWERR and Boulder
societies.

Letter from the Dean
Due to an unfavorable weather forecast, the Graduate College Hooding Ceremony
will be held INDOORS at Patrick Gymnasium.
Faculty and students planning to process should arrive by 12:00 p.m. with their
cap, gown and hood at the multipurpose facility. A reception will follow the
Hooding Ceremony in the main lobby of Patrick Gymnasium. For questions, contact

Honors College Ceremony
3:30 p.m.
Ira Allen Chapel
Parking has been moved from UHC Lot to Lot C (Water Tower Lot). Shuttles
will run between Ira Allen and Lot C/Davis Center from 2:30 to 5:00 pm. Handicap
parking will be provided behind Ira Allen for the ceremony and at the Davis
Center Oval for the reception.
The academic procession will form at 3:00 p.m. in Cook Commons. A reception
for graduates, family and friends will follow at 4:30 p.m. Please note, the
location of the reception has been changed from Billings Hall to the Silver
Maple Ballroom in the Dudley H. Davis Student Center. Tickets are not required.

204th Commencement Ceremony of the University of
Vermont
9:00 a.m.
Multipurpose Facility at the Athletic Complex
Due to an unfavorable weather forecast, the main commencement ceremony will
be held INDOORS at the Multipurpose Facility at Patrick Gymnasium. Overflow
seating will be available in the adjoining Patrick Gymnasium (closed-circuit
TV). Seating is on a first come first serve basis; tickets are not required.
Doors will open at 6:30 am.
Students, dressed in cap and gown, will line up for the academic procession at 8 a.m. in the Gardner-Collins Indoor Track in the Athletic Complex and will proceed to the Multipurpose Facility where they will sit together.
Faculty dressed in regalia will line up for the academic procession at 8 a.m. in the Varsity Strength and Conditioning Center (formerly known as the gymnastics facility) at Patrick Gymnasium.
The academic procession will begin at 8:20 a.m.
The president will confer degrees on the graduates by college and school. Author Julia Alvarez will give the commencement address. Honorary degrees will be awarded to Alvarez, Carole Burack, Daniel A. Burack, Eric S. Lipton, Sister Janice E. Ryan, Gladys Clark Severance and Malcolm F. Severance.

Track. Tickets are not required. A reception for graduates, family and friends
will follow immediately. Please note the location of the reception has changed
from the Silver Maple Ballroom to the Grand Maple Ballroom in the Dudley H.
Davis Student Center. Reservations for the reception are required. For more

The academic procession will form at 12:00 noon in the hallway around the top
level above the pool. Tickets are not required. A reception will precede the
ceremony beginning at 10:45 a.m. Please note the location of the reception has
changed from the Harris/Millis Lounge to the Grand Maple Ballroom in the Dudley

will be held INDOORS at the Multipurpose Facility in the Athletic Complex. Overflow

The academic procession will form at 1:30 p.m. in the Gardner-Collins Indoor Track in the Athletic Complex.
Diplomas may be picked up in the Davis Center Olin Atrium on Sunday, May 18, following the ceremony from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Students will need to provide ID in order to pick up their diploma. Students can also pick up their diplomas at the Student Service Center in Waterman, Monday to Friday, May 19-23, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Any diplomas left after May 23 will be mailed to the permanent (home) address on record the week of May 26.
