Parking

Commencement parking maps will be distributed to students when they pick up their caps and gowns. Maps will also be distributed to campus shuttle buses and area hotels/motels commencement weekend. If you do not receive a map and would like one, contact the University Communications Office, (802) 656-2005 or e-mail the office at newserv@zoo.uvm.edu.

The Commencement Parking Map Brochure is available in PDF format which requires you to have Adobe Acrobat Reader software on your computer.

Getting Around at Commencement

Parking areas for each college or school are designated as follows. Shuttle buses will bring guests to and from all commencement events (please refer to Commencement Parking Map Brochure for schedule and bus stop locations). Please respect our neighbors. Parking on area residential streets is by city-issued permit only. Violators will be subject to City of Burlington policy of ticketing and towing vehicles parked in these areas.

Agriculture and Life Sciences

Lot A (Gutterson Lot and Garage)

Arts and Sciences Lot B and Lot C (Ag/Engineering and Given Lots)
Business Administration Downtown Burlington (free public parking is available on Sundays)
Education and Social Services Lot A (Gutterson Lot and Garage)
Engineering and Mathematical Sciences Lot D (Sheraton Conference Center)
Environment and Natural Resources Lot D (Sheraton Conference Center)
Medicine Lot E (Trinity Campus)
Nursing Lot E (Trinity Campus)
Graduate College Friday, Lot A. Sunday, please park in lot(s) designated for your school or college

Street Closings

Due to the ceremony's change in location, two of the street-closings originally planned have been cancelled. South Prospect and College Street will be open to traffic on Saturday and Sunday. However, University Place will still be closed on Sunday.

Shuttle Bus Service

Friday, May 19, 2006
7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Campus Area Transportation System (CATS) will provide regular on-campus shuttle service at 10-minute intervals.

Saturday, May 20, 2006
No shuttle bus service available.

Sunday, May 21, 2006
7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Shuttle buses run every 10 minutes from each bus stop (see map).

Buses will run from all parking sites, the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center and the Wyndham Hotel with a stop at the Flynn Performing Arts Center to Patrick Gymnasium. University officials recommend that visitors park at the site of the various individual college ceremonies and take buses to the main ceremony. Signs, staff, and drivers will assist with directions. Commencement ceremony reference guides and campus maps are available at the desks of most area hotels.

Deaf and Disability Accommodation Requests

Participants or guests with mobility and/or hearing impairments may make arrangements for parking, seating, amplification and/or interpretation, by contacting the office of Transportation and parking Services at (802) 656-8686 or by email at parking@uvm.edu. In order to provide you with the best possible service, please make your arrangements as far in advance of commencement as possible. Commencement programs are also available in Braille by special request.
