Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony

Induction of members in course, undergraduate and graduates, into the Alpha
Chapter of Vermont, Phi Beta Kappa. Initiates will sign the chapter's register

Multipurpose Facilty in Patrick Gymnasium
Detailed News Release
Students, dressed in cap and gown, will line up for the academic
procession at 8 a.m. at the Indoor Track in Patrick Gymnasium and will proceed
to the Multipurpose Facility where they will sit together, not with their families
and guests as originally planned.
Faculty dressed in regalia will line up for the academic procession
at 8 a.m.in the Gymnastics Facility at Patrick Gymnasium.
The academic procession will begin at 8:20 a.m.
The president will confer degrees on the graduates by college and school. Gustavo Esteva, a passionate advocate for democracy and economic justice for Mexico's poor, will give the commencement address. Honorary degrees will be awarded to Esteva, Graham Stiles Newell, Elizabeth Cushman Titus Putnam, Barbara W. Snelling, and Hubert “Hub” W. Vogelmann.

The academic procession will form at 11:00 a.m. in the Gutterson Indoor Track.
Tickets are not required. A reception for graduates, family and friends will
follow in the Simpson Dining Hall. Reservations for the reception are required.

a.m. and 11:15 a.m. A reception will follow for graduates, faculty, family and

level above the pool. Tickets are not required. Reception at 50 University Heights
(Lobby Area) at 10:45 am. From Main Street, 50 University Heights is just past
the Living/Learning Center on the left. University Heights continues to Patrick

Due to an unfavorable weather forecast for Sunday, the ceremony will be held
in the Multipurpose Facility in the Athletic Complex with overflow seating available
in the adjoining Patrick Gymnasium (closed-circuit TV). The academic procession
will form at 1:30 p.m. in the Gutterson Indoor Track. Tickets are not required.
