Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony

Induction of members in course, undergraduate and graduates, into the Alpha
Chapter of Vermont, Phi Beta Kappa. Initiates will sign the chapter's register

200th Commencement Ceremony of the University of Vermont
9:00 a.m.
University Green
Faculty and students are requested to assemble on the Chittenden-Buckham-Wills
(CBW) Green at 8:00 a.m. The Marshaling Ceremony will begin at 8:15 a.m. The
Academic Procession will begin at 8:20 a.m.
The president will confer degrees on the graduates by college and school. Pulitzer
Prize-winning playwright David Mamet will give
the commencement address. Honorary degrees
will be awarded to Mamet and to Florence Knoll Bassett, Edwin I. Colodny, Charles
W. Johnson, Michael L. Lomax, Grace Paley and Stephen B. Rubenstein. The deans
will award diplomas to the graduates individually at college and school ceremonies
to follow.
In the event of foul weather, the ceremony will be held at the Indoor Tennis
Facility in the Athletic Complex. There will be no academic procession, and
students may sit with their families and friends. Overflow seating will be available
in the adjoining Patrick Gymnasium (closed-circuit TV). For information on this

will form at 11:00 a.m. in the hockey rink, and the ceremony will be held
in the Indoor Tennis Facility in the Athletic Complex with overflow seating

The academic procession will form in the Billings Center Theater between 11
a.m. and 11:15 a.m. A reception will follow for graduates, faculty, family and
friends in North Lounge, Billings Student Center, University Campus Center.

College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
Ceremony, Gutterson Fieldhouse/Indoor Track
The academic procession will form at 11:00 a.m. in the hockey rink. Tickets
are not required. A reception for graduates, faculty, family and friends
will follow the ceremony in the Marsh Residence Dining Hall. Reservations
for the reception are required and may be made by calling (802) 656-2980
or by visiting the CALS Student Services Office in 106 Morrill Hall. In
the event of foul weather, the academic procession will form at 11:00
a.m. in the hallway above the hockey rink.

College of Education and Social Services
Reception, Harris-Millis Main Lounge
A reception has been scheduled for CESS graduating students and their families PRIOR to the CESS Ceremony. Light refreshments will be served in the Harris-Millis Main Lounge from 12:30-2:00.
