Caps and Gowns/UVM Bookstore
The UVM Bookstore is located on central campus in the Dudley H. Davis Center at 590 Main Street. The Catamount Store is located on the Church Street Marketplace at 46 Church Street.
Academic regalia for the 216th Commencement Ceremony will be available for purchase both at the UVM Bookstore and online at http://uvmbookstore.uvm.edu beginning Monday, April 24th. Pre-orders are not necessary.
Students who graduated in October 2016 or January 2017 or who are living out-of-town and will be participating in the May 2017 Commencement Ceremony should order their caps and gowns (regalia) online at http://uvmbookstore.uvm.edu by Monday, May 15th for standard ground shipping and no later than Thursday, May 18th by 2 pm EST, for next business day express shipping. Regalia can either be shipped to a valid home address or held at the UVM Bookstore on campus for pickup during normal business hours or during the Bookstore’s extended hours commencement weekend (store hours and contact information are available at http://www.uvm.edu/~cmncmnt/?Page=caps_gowns.html).
If you require special gown sizing, please contact the Bookstore to assure that you will have a gown that fits you. Caps and gowns are made of Oak Hall’s GreenWeaver material, a lightweight polyester-like material made from 23 post-consumer recycled plastic bottles.
To participate in May 2017 Commencement ceremonies, a complete outfit is required for all degree candidates (Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral and Medical).

Individual parts of the complete regalia (tassel, cap, cap and gown (gowns cannot be purchased alone), hood, or stole) may be purchased at the UVM Bookstore. For a comprehensive price list please call 1-800-331-7305.
Undergraduate students may opt to sell their stoles back to the UVM Bookstore until Friday, June 2nd. Stoles in clean, re-saleable condition will be purchased back by the store for approximately half their retail value, dry cleaned, and reused for the following year’s Commencement.
Faculty may rent regalia through the UVM Bookstore. Please contact Brendan Andrews at 656-0989. You will need to provide your height and weight, highest degree earned, name of the institution that granted the degree and payment information (either personal or departmental). The cost is $65-$95 depending on whether or not a tam is also rented. Note, orders must be placed by Monday, May 8th. Any rental orders placed after this date will incur late order charges as well as expedited shipping charges.

- Non-Personalized Announcements: Beginning Monday, March 20th, single, 5 pack, and 10 packs of non-personalized announcements for the Sunday morning Main Commencement Ceremony for bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees are available at the Customer Service counter at the Bookstore or online at http://uvmbookstore.uvm.edu
Class rings are available to purchase from Balfour. A representative from Balfour will be at the UVM Bookstore Wednesday, April 26th (during Senior Celebration) for those wishing to order Balfour class rings.
- Diploma frames are available for bachelor, master, doctoral, and medical degrees. They can be purchased either at the UVM Bookstore or online at http://uvmbookstore.uvm.edu.
Senior Celebration at the UVM Bookstore is Wednesday, April 26th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join the fun and pick-up your cap and gown, diploma frame, and announcements while enjoying refreshments provided by UVM Dining Services. GradImages will be on hand to take cap and gown portraits and pre-register students for the photographs that will be taken of them as they cross the stage and graduate. All in-stock diploma frames from Church Hill Classics will be discounted 25% that day and there will be a Class of 2017 water bottle giveaway and a raffle for a diploma frame and other items.
The UVM Bookstore, in partnership with Commencement T-shirts, is proud to offer a 100% cotton Class of 2017 commemorative T-shirt that lists the names of all UVM graduates (October, January, and May graduates getting an undergraduate, graduate, or medical degree) on the back. Please note, only names without confidentiality restrictions will be included. Online ordering will be available shortly. Shirts will be available for pickup only at the UVM Bookstore kiosk on the University Green from 7 am to 2 pm the morning of Sunday May 21st.
A DVD of the 216th Commencement Ceremony will be available from the UVM Bookstore for $37.95 plus $7.99 shipping and handling (please allow 3-4 weeks after commencement for delivery).
The DVD will include both the University Commencement Main Ceremony (Sunday, 5/21, 8:20 a.m.) and an individual college or school ceremony of your choice: College of Agriculture & Life Sciences (CALS), College of Arts & Sciences (CAS), Grossman School of Business (GSB), College of Education & Social Services (CESS), College of Engineering & Mathematical Sciences (CEMS), Rubenstein School of Environment & Natural Resources (RSENR), The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine (LCOM), College of Nursing & Health Sciences (CNHS), Graduate College (GRAD). The Honors College Scholars Recognition Ceremony (HCOL), the College of Arts & Sciences Recognition Ceremony, or a second individual ceremony may be added to the DVD for an additional fee of $16.95.
