216th Commencement Ceremonies - May 20 and 21, 2017

Arrival Time Information

The University Commencement Main Ceremony – Sunday, May 21

Undergraduate students and faculty are asked to arrive at the Bailey-Howe/Davis Center Green by 7:45 a.m. wearing their academic regalia. Students will line up with their college/school. (Honors College students are asked to line-up with the Honors College for the University Commencement Main Ceremony academic procession.)

Guests are asked to be in their seats by 8:15 a.m. Seating on the University Green is open and available on a first come, first served basis.

The Ceremony will begin at 8:20 a.m. with the academic procession.

In the event of severe weather, the ceremony will be moved indoors to the Multipurpose Facility in the Athletic Complex. Doors will open at 7:00 a.m. Students and faculty are asked to arrive by 7:45 a.m.  Students will line-up will be in the Gardner-Collins Indoor Track and faculty will line-up in the Athletic Performance Center (formerly, Varsity Strength and Conditioning Center). Tickets will be required for guests; guests without tickets may view the ceremony on large screen display in the Davis Center on the main campus. A live webcast of each commencement ceremony will be available on the web at http://live.vpt.org/uvm/.

Degrees will be conferred by the president at the University Commencement Main Ceremony. Graduates will not walk across the stage at this ceremony.  Graduates will walk across the stage and receive their diploma at their home college/school ceremony later in the day. 

Please leave adequate time to park and shuttle to your ceremony. If you have mobility limitations, you may make arrangements for accommodations for parking.

Individual College and School Ceremonies – Sunday, May 21

Following the University Commencement Main Ceremony, students will attend their home college/school ceremony where their diploma will be presented. Please consult the college/school ceremony schedule for details. Please leave adequate time to park and shuttle to your ceremony. If you have mobility limitations, you may make arrangements for accommodations for parking.

Graduate College Commencement Ceremony – Saturday, May 20
Graduate College students and faculty are asked to arrive at 11:30 a.m. wearing their academic regalia. Students will line-up in Patrick Gymnasium and Faculty will line-up in the Athletic Performance Center for the Academic Procession. The Graduate College Commencement Ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Facility in the Athletic Complex.

Seating for guests will begin at 11:00 a.m. when doors open. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. Graduate degrees will be conferred by the university president at this ceremony; students will be hooded and presented with their diploma on stage. Please leave adequate time to park and shuttle to your ceremony. If you have mobility limitations, you may make arrangements for accommodations for parking.

The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine Commencement Ceremony – Sunday, May 21
Larner College of Medicine students and faculty are asked to arrive at 2:00 p.m. Students will line-up in Cook Commons, wearing their academic regalia; Faculty will meet in Ira Allen Chapel and may robe upon arrival. The Larner College of Medicine Commencement Ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m. in Ira Allen Chapel. 

Seating for guests will begin at 2:00 p.m. when doors open; tickets will be required. Guests without tickets may view the ceremony on large screen display in the Billings-Ira Allen Lecture Hall. Degrees will be conferred and diplomas distributed at this ceremony, followed by the administration of the oath. Please leave adequate time to park and shuttle to your ceremony. If you have mobility limitations, you may make arrangements for accommodations for parking.
