The University of Vermont will gather on the University Green for one commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 23, 2010. The 206th Commencement Ceremony marks a return to the traditional model celebrated by the university for 170 years.
This university-wide ceremony includes the academic procession of the president, provost, trustees, honored guests, faculty and graduating undergraduate, graduate and medical students in academic regalia. The procession is led by the university marshal, UVM Police Services Honor Guard, and the Pipes and Drums of Saint Andrew’s Society. Included in the main ceremony are the:
Each graduating student’s name will be read as they walk across the stage to receive their diploma cover from their dean. Doctoral students will be hooded by their dissertation advisor or designated faculty member; master’s degree students will ascend the stage wearing their hood.
College and school receptions for graduates and their guests will immediately follow the commencement ceremony. See “Reception Schedule” for details.
