This far in figure skating..
The UVM figure skaters went to a competition that went well, the Girls skated a clean program and received a positive critique. The judges said that they showed a lot of potential for this season. Their program has come a long way from last year and they should place well at easterns. Congratulations Skaters!

A taste of warm weather to compliment the victories!
The Men's Rugby Team defeated UMass and Middlebury (for the first time in years) and qualified for nationals with the number one seed. The swim team went to a meet at Dartmouth where the girls won 137-131 and the boys lost 91-134 and they look forward to swimming there again. The shooting team was out and about this weekend and had fun. They didn't win or place, but had a great time and learned a lot about traveling and competing, so come spring time they'll be more prepared. Congratulations all!

From the dropping kicks to dropping sails
The Sailing team came out with a 5th place finish at this weekend's Schell Trophy at MIT, despite the 25 knot winds that struck. Their phenominal pit crew really held strong when they fixed up the boat between the races. They are now qualified to compete at the Coed Atlantic Coast Dinghy Championship at Harvard next weekend. The Women's Team has had a very successful fall; they'll finish the season with the Horn Trophy Team Race this weekend, but the girls have been just outside the national rankings for four weeks now. The Atlantic Coast Championship will close a tremendously successful fall for the Catamounts; this performance will guarantee one of the nation's most competitive schedules for 2010. Additionally, the Cats will welcome eighteen much-needed new sets of North Sails for our FJs. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club had a tourament in Winowski this past weekend on Saturday. UVM Taekwondo's very own Master Jaime Schulte has been appointed the Referee Chair of the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference, which is part of the the National Collegiate Taekwondo Association. He was also named National Referee of the Year by the NCTA for 2009. A very big congratulations to him! Also, the Equestrian Team was 2nd by one point at UNH with a mega come-back in the afternoon (they were near the bottom of the pack after jumping). Reese Green was High-Point Rider for the day, and we had many blue ribbons!

Lots of wins despite injuries and illness
The Men's Club Soccer team overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat St. Anselms College 3-2 on Sunday, with only 12 players who were able to make the trip due to illness, but goals by Andreas Varsakopoulos, Ali Sadeghi, and Tyler Ellis along with key saves by keeper Trevor Quinn lead us to victory. Men's rugby defeated URI 37-7 putting them into the New England Rugby Football Union Playoffs, being held at Middlebury this Saturday and Sunday. And, the women's club volleyball team won the Harvard Tournament. They went undefeated during pool play and then went on to beat West Chester in the finals to take the whole thing. Everyone did an amazing job!
