"Our Boy Johnny"
Remember last year at this time when I was causin' all the fuss;
Cause Mr. LeClair got his 50th and he was one of us?
Well you're not gonna believe this, but once again, our boy has struck;
And when you get 50 twice in a row, it ain't about good luck.
Yes, lamps around the NHL you know Mr. Johnny can light 'em;
And players have such respect for him that they don't even fight him.
The word is out around the league, that John is one of the best;
And the word of Mr. Serge Savard, "I guess it's up I messed."
But Montreal's minus turned out top be Philadelphia's plus;
And as Mr. Cherry succinctly put, "He didn't learn to play on the bus."
Now Lindros is supposed to be the star; we of course know better;
The best guy on that hockey team has a UVM letter sweater!
And because our guy is so special at whackin' around those pucks;
His income is gonna increase by the tune of a few million bucks.
And all of us in Vermont, well we just think that it's great;
We're hopin' for one more 50 goal year, and then he can buy the state!
But it's not about the money, with that we're never upset;
Because you're always happy for the people who never forget.
He does so much for the kids, like most Vermonters, he really cares;
And that is simply the reason we love our boy, Johnny LeClair.
