The purpose of this Seminar is to consider the classical foundations for the current curriculum for the B.A. degree of the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Vermont.

For second-year students in the John Dewey Honors Program.

No text book. A major responsibility will be to locate suitable translations of each assigned work. For texts on-line see: http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/Texts.html. Works of limited availability will have to be shared. Some of these will be in informal reserve in my office. We will gather outside of class to review strategies for finding texts. During the semester you should build a bibliography of reference works on classical studies.
