Classics 42: Mythology
Syllabus
This course focuses on the use of Greek and Roman myth in literature, art,
and music. The principal texts are Ovid's Metamorphoses and approximately
ten Greek tragedies. The lectures draw examples from art, music, and modern
literature. Students receive a handbook of guides to the reading assignments,
and there are optional extra review sessions once weekly. This course may
be taken for the literature distribution requirement of the College of
Arts and Sciences.
