3/1/99: Fellow Seniors
Graduation is quickly approaching and we find ourselves looking back at the years we have
spent at UVM with fond memories. The time has come for us to give something back to the
University. In October we voted to make our class gift a Ropes Course. Since then the
Senior Class Council has been working hard to bring to UVM the most original gift yet.
Ropes Courses have been used for almost 30 years as a cooperative team-building and group
problem solving tool. They are made up of different elements. Some of them are low on the
ground while others are 20-40 feet up in the air. With each element you face a different
challenge. Our class gift is important for two reasons. First, it allows us to show our
appreciation for the education and the experiences that we have received at UVM. Second,
it is a chance for us to leave a mark on the UVM campus that all future students can
enjoy. So far we have raised over $4,000, but we need over $20,000 to build the Ropes
Course. Remember, every penny counts. For a minimum of only $19.99 you can get your name
engraved on a plaque at the sight. We have also formed three tiers of giving for those who
feel especially generous:
$19.99-$99.99 Spider's Web Element
$100-$499.99 Wild Woozy Element
$500+ Desert Island Element
If you have not yet supported the Gift please do so the next chance you get. We need
the majority of the money to come in by Friday, March 12 for this project to continue.
Gifts can be made using cash, check, or credit card at Grasse Mount (411 Main Street), the
Library Circulation Desk, UVM CATcard Office, or given to any Senior Class Council member.
You can also make your gift using your CatScratch card at the CATcard Office.
