Peer Health Education Program
What is it?
The Peer Health Education program at UVM takes a
"student-educating-students approach to health & wellness. Our
peer health educators, also known as SWAT (Student Wellness Action
Team) are trained in the major areas of health and peer mentoring. To

How will being a Peer Health Educator benefit me?
By being a health educator in SWAT you can:
- strengthen your knowledge and skills around health
& wellness issues
- learn creative strategies for presenting health &
wellness information through active participating in interactive
learning activities
- strengthen leadership and facilitation skills through
conducting group discussion and role playing
- obtain experience in planning, organizing, and presenting a
variety of health programs which will be applicable in many types of
future employment, graduate school or professional licensure
- have the opportunity to network with health &
wellness professionals at UVM and the community. SWAT members also have
the opportunity to attend regional and national conferences.
