The 8th Conference, sponsored by Yunnan University and the University of Vermont and assisted by Yale University, University of Hawaii, City University of New York, Portland State University, and Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, aims to continue to promote academic communication and cooperation among teachers and scholars of Chinese as a foreign language inside and outside China.  The 8th Conference welcomes Chinese language teachers and scholars to submit papers (in Chinese or English) in the following areas:

 

1) Studies and Applications of the Second Language Acquisition Theory in Chinese as a Foreign Language Teaching and Learning

      二语习得理论在对外汉语教学中的应用与研究

2) Methodology and Modes in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language in Formal Educational Institutions (i.e., Colleges, High Schools, and Elementary Schools)

      正规教学机构（大中小学）对外汉语教学模式及教学法研究

3) Issues and Management of Chinese as Foreign Language Teaching at Confucius Institute and Other Non-Traditional Educational Institutions

      孔子学院及其他非常规教学机构对外汉语教学问题及管理

4) Studies and Practice in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language for Special Purposes (e.g., Business, Law, Medicine, etc.)

      具有特殊目的（如商务、法律、医学等）的对外汉语教学实践与研究

5) Studies and Applications of Modern Educational Technologies in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language

      现代教育技术在对外汉语教学中的应用与研究

6) Evaluation and Development of Teaching Materials for Chinese as a Foreign Language

      对外汉语教材的开发与评价

Those who intend to present a paper at the Conference should submit a one page abstract online before December 1, 2009.  The paper abstract submission website address will be announced in the next announcement.  The reviewing team formed by the Organizing Committee members will review the paper abstracts anonymously and will also notify the paper abstract submitters of the status of their paper abstracts by January 31, 2010.

 

Those whose paper abstracts are accepted will need to submit their completed papers (no more than 4 pages) by April 1, 2010 in order to be included in the conference proceedings and to be selected for a selected edition of conference papers.  The Conference Committee reserves the right to review a completed paper again if it is drastically different from its original paper abstract. The paper format and style requirements and the information on conference fees and hotel rooms will soon be provided at the 8th International Conference on Chinese Language Pedagogy website: www.uvm.edu/~chinese/conference2010
