In 1999, Common Ground experimented with multiple farmers. Matt Dees (PSS), Brad Kintzer (ENVS) and Kathleen McTigue (CDAE) were Co-Farm Managers, and Nate Sands (PSS) was an active apprentice. Faculty shares increased to 13 and were $150 per share. Students developed 4 working shares for students in hopes of developing a student labor pool to help with growing the vegetables. Student working shares were $100 each.
The farm produced 6000 pounds of vegetables for the Chittenden Co. Emergency Foodshelf and Salvation Army Soup Kitchen. After this season student farmers concluded that communication was a very important key to running the operation and was needed between farmers and student workers to keep the farm sound. Students hosted several workshops for children and spent a morning with the Vermont Youth Corps. The UVM Trustees visited the farm in August.
