Wood Energy
Wood Energy and its uses in Vermont
While it is clear that trees and forests play a role in climate change, their role in carbon offsets is less clear, and access to carbon markets is downright murky-especially at the local level. To help people understand carbon offsets, the University of Vermont is working with community groups to conduct original research and adapt existing information on how the voluntary carbon offset market is evolving, how forest carbon plays a role, and the barriers and opportunities for local communities to help fund urban and community forestry through carbon offsets.
