Carbon Mitigation for Urban & Community Forestry
To help people understand carbon offsets, the University of Vermont is working with community groups to conduct original research and adapt existing information on how voluntary carbon offset markets are evolving, how forest carbon plays a role, and the barriers and opportunities for local communities to help fund and foster support for urban and community forestry through carbon offsets. Specific to urban forestry, case studies from across the country have been developed to serve as models for participation in voluntary carbon markets and to identify major barriers and opportunities for engagement in these markets.
