Students with the sufficient training and natural musical ability to justify a career in music are encouraged to audition for the Music Education Program. Those admitted as first-year students, or as sophomores, are considered candidates in the program. Admission as a major is granted at the beginning of the junior year.

"Music is in every facet of life. Cultures around the world set their pulse to the music of yesterday and today. We use it to express a range of our emotions. It is often an integral part of our cherished memories, and we use it to help ease any pain. Music possesses the power to motivate, mobilize, and mollifies society. One of the first steps to learning about other peoples is often taken through their music. Our music faculty embraces this and provides students rich opportunities to refine their performance and teaching talents. We have high expectations in all areas of the program and are committed to guiding you as you work toward achieving your personal goals. Goals that will help you to continue the tradition that's as old as humanity, using music to inspire, innervate, and illuminate those around you." Geoffrey Reynolds, Faculty
