Title: The Impact of a Class-wide Affective Intervention on the Close Friendships of Kindergartners with Disabilities

Abstract: This presentation will outline the foundations of research by highlighting past and current projects related to the development of peer-related social competence among young children with developmental delays and disabilities. Emphasis will be placed on a study designed to investigate the impact of a class-wide affective curriculum on the formation of classroom friendships. Linkages will be made to on-going research and directions for future studies will be discussed.
