On this page you will find all of the minimum recommendations for computer purchases related to the Laptop Recommendation Program (LRP). You can still make use of these recommendations even if your program is not currently a participant in the LRP.
It is our suggestion to purchase your computer from the University's Computer Depot as they bundle extra software (Microsoft Office) and warranty items (3 years of AppleCare) with your machine. For more reasons to purchase your machine from the Depot, click here.
You may choose to upgrade or purchase a more powerful machine than the one listed below. Visit the Depot's web site to see other machines that will also meet the needs of the College of Education and Social Services Laptop Recommendation Program.
We suggest the MacBook computer for our students. We are waiting for pricing information as well as technical specifications from our Apple sales representative. More technical specifications will be available soon. Please check back.
While the MacBook Air is a stunning ultraportable laptop computer, it does not offer the same level of productivity for our students. It requires the use of peripheral devices for CD/DVD use and has a significantly smaller hard drive as well as a slower video chipset (which will impact the creation of our students' video projects).
