Steve Netcoh is pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.  Prior to enrolling in the program, he taught first-year writing and introduction to global literature at St. John’s University and a Hip-Hop themed first-year seminar at Mercy College’s Bronx campus.  He also worked as a humanities teacher at CUNY Prep, an alternative high school in the Bronx, and as a cooperating teacher for the CUNY Start program at LaGuardia Community College.  Steve currently has a Graduate Teaching Fellowship at UVM and works closely with the Middle Level Teacher Education Program by serving as a teaching assistant for a social studies and science methods course and supervising student teachers in local schools.  His research interests are in the areas of multicultural, anti-racism, and critical media education, and he has begun exploring the implications of high-stakes testing in the United States since arriving at UVM.  Steve is new to Vermont and is looking forward to learning more about and exploring the state.
