Accessing Files Saved on the UVM Network (Zoofiles)

If you have files saved on the UVM Network (Zoofiles), you can access them anywhere you have an internet connection. You can get to your files via the web, or by mapping a network drive.

Webfiles

A quick and easy way to access your files on the UVM network is to go to webfiles.uvm.edu and log in at the prompt. From there, open up Zoofiles-Home. In there you will find your files. Right-click on a file and look for a download option to save it to your computer. When you are done, you can upload the file back to the network.

Map a Network Drive

You might prefer mapping a network drive, so that you can save and open files on the network directly, without having to transfer them back and forth between the network and your local computer. Follow the instructions below (for Windows or Mac).

Windows

  1. If you are connecting from off campus, you must have the VPN Clint installed and running. To get the VPN, follow this link. Log in with your UVM NetID, and follow the prompts.
  2. Open up Computer, and select Map Network Drive.
  3. Choose a drive letter from the dropdown (Z for Zoo is fine, or any other letter that isn't already in use). For the folder, type in the following path, filling in your UVM NetID in place of netid

    \\zoofiles.uvm.edu\netid

If this is your own computer, check the box for Reconnect at Logon.

  4. Click Finish, and log in with your UVM NetID at the prompt. If you are mapping the drive on your own computer, check the box to remember your credentials so that you don't have to type in your username and password every time.

Mac

  1. If you are connecting from off campus, you must have the VPN Clint installed and running. To get the VPN, follow this link. Log in with your UVM NetID, and follow the prompts.
  2. Go to the Finder. On the Go menu, select Connect to Server.
  3. In the address field, type in the following path, filling in your own UVM NetID in place of netid.

    cifs://zoofiles.uvm.edu/netid

  4. Click Connect, and log in with your UVM NetID at the prompt. If this is your own computer, check the box to remember your password so that you don't have to type in your username and password every time.
