Humanities & Social Sciences (HSS) Requirements

Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science and Computer Science & Information Systems students should refer to their curriculum checksheets for lists of approved HSS courses for those programs.

Engineering students are required to take 15 credits of humanities/social science (HSS) electives. Two courses must be from the same department (or with the same prefix, for example two courses in ANTH). One HSS course must meet the diversity category one (D1 – race and racism in the US) requirement. A second course may meet the diversity category one (D1) or category two (D2 – human and societal diversity). Diversity courses always have D1 or D2 contained in the title.
