Abstract

Semantic Web is an initiative of WWW Consortium aimed at developing a set of Languages and Tools for machine processing of information stored in WWW. Semantic Web research has been focused on developing an efficient Knowledge Representation Mechanism for WWW, or more specifically on ontologies. Ontologies are specification of conceptualizations expressed in well structured logical formalism- sound, complete and preferably decidable. Ontologies are used for annotation of non-structured or semi-structured data to enable efficient retrieval and integration.  In this presentation I discuss GrOWL - a graphic framework for editing and navigation of OWL ontologies. I shall also discuss research problems pertained to usage, creation, storage and processing of ontologies.
