4-Year Plan for Career Success

The 4 Year Plan for Career Success is a key element of the new university-wide career initiative. This deceptively simple "roadmap" is designed to help students develop and realize academic and career success, beginning in their first year at UVM. It's a comprehensive tool you can use to engage students in high impact practices that support learning and integrate career development into your work with students in the clasroom or in advising.

Faculty members report using the plan with good results. Here are some examples:

  • Collaborate with the Career Center or the CEMS Career Readiness Program Coordinator on career-related alumni panels or class presentations
  • Assign specific activities on the 4 Year Plan as part of course requirements
  • Ask students to bring their 4 Year Plan for Career Success to their advising session and set goals for the next semester

Workshops, panels, class presentations

CEMS Career Readiness Program Coordinator, Lauren Petrie and the career counselors at the UVM Career Center are available to provide workshops, employer/alumni/career panels, and class presentations related to career preparation. Contact Lauren at Lauren.Petrie@uvm.edu to schedule an event.
